Accommodations

Will you meet us when we arrive at the Port of Kohama?

A shuttle bus exclusively for Hotel accommodation guests will arrive to pick you up, timed to coincide with scheduled ship arrivals. No reservation is required.

What are your check-in and checkout times?

Check-in is at 3:00 PM. Checkout is at 11:00 AM.

Can we use the facilities on Hotel property before check-in and after checkout?

You can use the facilities on Hotel property anytime on the same day as your check-in and checkout.
The same applies to rental carts.
If you arrive before check-in, you can leave your baggage with our cloak room and use any of the facilities other than guestrooms.
That includes the dressing rooms and shower rooms. Feel free to change clothes and enjoy the beach or pools.

Can we leave our luggage with the Hotel after we check out?

We can keep your luggage in the cloak space beside the reception desk. Please manage your valuables yourself or leave them with reception.

Are early check-in and late checkout available?

If you would like early check-in or late checkout, please inquire with reception when you arrive at the Hotel.
Please note that we may in some cases be unable to accommodate such requests, depending on circumstances on that day.

What Is a Rental Cart?

These are mobility carts available for use within the grounds of Haimurubushi.
Guests may drive the cart themselves and enjoy exploring the property and moving around the resort at their own pace.
If a rental cart is not included in your accommodation plan, it is available for rent at an additional hourly fee.

  • ※Please note that advance reservations are not accepted; rentals are available on a same-day basis only.
  • ※A valid standard driver’s license is required to use the cart.

Can rental carts be used before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, rental carts are available for use.
Guests arriving early or those who wish to continue enjoying their stay after check-out are welcome to make use of the rental carts.
Take your time exploring the facilities and natural surroundings of Haimurubushi and enjoy everything the resort has to offer to your heart’s content.

Can we settle our bill by credit card?

The Hotel accepts Aeon Card, American Express, China UnionPay, Diners Club, JCB, Mastercard, MUFG, Nicos, Saison, UC, and Visa, as well as debit cards.

Can the Hotel handle flight changes or cancellations for us?

Unfortunately, the Hotel cannot handle flight changes or cancellations for you. You will need to contact your airline yourself.

Our stay plan doesn't include cart rental. Can we reserve one in advance?

We don't accept reservations for cart rental. Please inquire at the cart rental reception desk on the day when you wish to use a cart.

Can we send our luggage ahead?

Please write your name and date of arrival on the luggage tag and send it to the following address.

If you wish to forward your luggage both to and from the Hotel, please request “Return-trip delivery.” This will ensure smooth handling without the need for payment and labeling when sending the luggage on the return trip.
• For details, please contact your forwarding agent directly.

Shipments may sometimes be delayed due to heavy traffic, so please allow a few extra days for shipment.
Also, limits on forwarding of luggage by air are becoming stricter.
If your luggage contains spray cans, chargers for mobile telephones or other electronic devices, lighters, fireworks or other hazardous items, it will need to be forwarded by sea, in which case it will take about 10 days to arrive.
Please confirm any cautions from your delivery operator before completing shipping procedures.
Please confirm the status of your shipment to the hotel using your delivery operator’s tracking service.

Is there anywhere at Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal where we can check our luggage while we wait to board our fast ferry?

At Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal you can leave your luggage at the Haimurubushi Ishigaki Tourist Information Center (free of charge).
Operating hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Can five people stay in one guestroom?

Garden Terrace Premium guestrooms can accommodate up to five guests, with the addition of stacking beds.

If we reserve two or more guestrooms, can we reserve rooms next to each other?

Please leave a note when you book with us on our official website, or contact the Hotel by phone after you make your reservation. We will do our best to accommodate your request for nearby or adjacent guestrooms.

After we reserve our stay plan, can we contact you by telephone or e-mail to amend it?

We regret that we cannot accept changes to stay plans. You will need to rearrange your stay plan.
Please note ethat, depending on timing, changing your stay plan may result in a change in fees.

How big are the rooms and terrances (for guestrooms with private gardens)?

Do you have guestrooms with ocean view?

Choose any guestroom with the phrase "Ocean View" in the name and you can enjoy beautiful ocean views.

Can we specify our preferred accommodation building, floor, or guestroom number?

We can make note of your preference, but we can’t give you an answer until the day of your arrival. We regret that we cannot promise such specific details in advance.

Can we book parties and conferences as a group?

The Hotel offers function rooms ideal for holding conferences and dinner parties (fees apply).
Please note that fees vary by timing.

We want to prepare a surprise for someone during our stay. Do you have any good plans?

Haimurubushi offers a number of anniversary gifts, which can be used for surprise events. These have to be ordered and prepared on a remote island, so please request your surprise as early as possible. Deadlines depend on the nature of the surprise.

Do you have baby and infant goods you can lend out?

◎The Hotel has a wide range of baby and infant goods that you can use free of charge.

Are guestrooms equipped with internet access?

All guestrooms are equipped with Wi-Fi (wireless LAN), available to use free of charge. To use the service, simply enter the password into your device (PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.) .
Please note that bad weather may sometimes make the connection unstable (slow) or unavailable. The lobby of the Center Building is also equipped with Wi-Fi.

What is your policy on cancellations due to natural disasters such as typhoons?

If an incoming typhoon causes your airline to cancel your flight or waive the cancellation fee, or if ferry departures are canceled, making travel to Kohama impossible, you can cancel your reservation with no cancellation fee.
However, if you cancel your reservation before your airline decides to cancel your flight, a cancellation fee will be payable based on our cancellation rules.
Reservations organized by travel agencies are handled according to the rules established by each travel agency.
For plans that include airfare, please inquire directly with the travel agency or website with which you made your reservation.

Leisure on Hotel property

How far is the Hotel from the beach?

The Hotel grounds front on Haimurubushi Beach. From Center House on the Hotel grounds, the beach is a 10-minute walk away.
If you prefer not to walk, a free shuttle bus runs between Center House and the beach.
The shuttle bus departs on a schedule, so please reserve your departure at the reception counter.

Can I see fish and coral in the swimming area of the beach?

The waters in the swimming area of the beach are calm and shallow and it is not possible to see fish or coral.
We recommend you use snorkelling activities for that purpose.

Do you have communal baths?

We have communal baths with views, reserved exclusively for accommodation guests. The baths are fed with heated water, not geothermal hot springs.

Is there a golf course nearby?

There is no golf course on the Hotel grounds, but the Hotel is next door to an 18-hole championship golf course, Kohamajima Country Club. For reservations, please contact the golf course directly.
A shuttle service from the Hotel to the golf course is available. Please reserve at Hotel reception, no later than the previous day.
The Hotel arranges the shuttle service free of charge.

Are there any cautions regarding use of facilities such as the beach and pools?

Guests at the Hotel are asked not to display body art, including tattoos, body paint, stickers, etc. (a small, unobtrusive tattoo in one spot is fine). If you have larger body art, please keep it covered during your stay, for example by wearing a long-sleeved shirt.
At the beach or one of the pools, please cover the body art by wearing a rash guard. (However, rash guards are not permitted in the communal baths.)
In some cases a staff member may call out to you if you are not wearing a rash guard. We appreciate your cooperation.

Can I fly a drone?

Flying drones is not permitted on the Resort grounds. If you wish to fly a drone for video recording purposes, please obtain the Hotel's permission in advance.

Do you have a laundromat?

Each accommodation building is equipped with fully automatic washer/dryers (with automatic detergent injection). Payment is by electronic money only.

Do you have microwave ovens?

Microwave ovens are not provided in the guestrooms or lobbies. To use a microwave oven, please inquire at the front desk or one of the restaurants.

Do you have smoking areas?

There is one smoking area in Center House and another in the beach area.

Can people other than accommodation guests use the Hotel's facilities?

We regret that only accommodation guests may use the Hotel's facilities.

Is there a convenience store on Kohamajima?

There are no convenience stores on Kohamajima. There is one small retail store.
You can purchase juices, alcoholic beverages, snack cakes and so on at the hotel shops. Please bring any necessities with you or purchase them on Ishigakijima before you arrive.

Can the Hotel be used for wedding photography? Can we bring our own photographer and hairdresser to our room?

Wedding photography is only permitted through Hotel partners. Photographers, hairdressers and other wedding contractors other than partners of the Hotel are not permitted to take part in photography on Hotel premises.

Does the Hotel have a chapel?

There is no chapel on the Hotel premises.

Are there age restrictions on who can use the Quiet Pool?

The Quiet Pool is open to guests aged 16 and over.
In the winter, the Quiet Pool is open to use by children 15 and under during certain hours only (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM from December to February)

Are the pools available for use in the winter?

Main Pool and Garden Pool: March to November
Quiet Pool: Year-round (used as a heated pool (30°C) from December to February)

How can we reserve an activity?

All the rental carts are in use. How can we get around?

The Hotel operates a shuttle bus between Center House and the beach.
If you need assistance going from your room to Center House, please contact reception.

Restaurant

Are reservations required for the restaurants?

Reservations are required for dinner at the restaurants.
• Guests who have dinner plans are asked to reserve a time and seating.
You can reserve through the restaurant reservation service on the official Hotel website.

What support do you offer for people with allergies?

The Hotel lists eight allergens.
All cooking areas and utensils are used in common, so we cannot guarantee that all foods will be completely free of contamination with tiny amounts of allergens.
Please note that in some cases we may not be able to cater to all needs, so please contact the restaurant in advance.

Do the restaurants have seats for children?

The restaurant has chairs for children aged 7 months to about 2 years (able to sit up) and chairs for children aged 3 to 6.

Do you offer baby food for infants?

Baby food is available for purchase at our restaurants and shops.
Baby food purchased from the shop may also be brought into the restaurant.
We offer baby food for early, middle, and late weaning stages at ¥600 (tax included) per item.
If requested, we can also warm the baby food for you.

Can we ask you to sterilize our nursing bottle?

The front desk and restaurants accept nursing bottles for sterilization. Sterilization is conducted by microwave oven or by steaming.

Do you have a table for changing diapers?

Yes, there's a table for changing diapers in the multi-purpose washroom next to reception.

Do the hotel shops sell diapers, weaning foods, and children's snacks?

The Hotel shops sell diapers (2 per pack, sizes from newborn to large). However, they do not sell weaning foods or children's snacks.

Can children in diapers use the pools, beach or communal baths?

Children who use diapers can use the pools, beach or communal baths provided they wear swimming diapers (underpants) under their swimsuits. Swimming diapers can be purchased at the hotel shops.

Kohamajima and Nearby Islands

When is typhoon season?

Every year is different, but in a typical year one or two typhoons occur between June and October.

Where do we go to board the ship for the Port of Kohama?

The high-speed ferry departs from the Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal.
From Ishigaki Airport, you can take a taxi (about 25 minutes), an airport express bus (about 30 minutes) or the airport route bus (about 45 minutes). Please note that the time of last departure differs by season.

Do we need to reserve the ferry between the Port of Ishigaki and the Port of Kohama?

No reservations are necessary.

Can we use our mobile telephones on Kohamajima?

DoCoMo and au subscribers can use their phones on the island. For SoftBank subscribers, reception varies depending on what part of the island you're in.

When is the Southern Cross visible? Where should I look for it in the night sky?

The Southern Cross can be observed from about late December to mid-June. It can be seen above Kuroshima, in front of the Beach Terrace.
The constellation appears close to the horizon, just above Kuroshima. For this reason it may not be visible on cloudy days.
Note: Haimurubushi means “southern stars,” of which the stars of the Southern Cross are the best known.
