What is Haimurubushi?

Haimurubushi started operations in 1979. It is located on Kohamajima in the Yaeyama Islands, surrounded by the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere, about 400 km south of the main island of Okinawa.
Each of the 23 islands in the Yaeyama chain is a paradise of subtropical flora, with its own unique island culture. These charms led to the islands’ designation as Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park.

Haimurubushi is the word in the Yaeyama dialect of Japanese for the Southern Cross, a constellation seen in the southern sky.

Since its opening, guests have flocked to Haimurubushi, to marvel at the beauty of the Yaeyama Islands and enjoy marine activities to their hearts’ content.

Our most recent renovation raises the appeal of Haimurubushi to new levels. New accommodation styles put guests in closer touch with the scenic natural splendor of Kohamajima. Pampering experiences such as gourmet dining and wellness amenities make your resort stay an unforgettable one.

Message from the General Manager

General Manager

General Manager (Naohiro Yamaguchi)

Born in 1981 in Nara Prefecture.
Naohiro began his career in hotel management in Okinawa, where he worked in food and beverage management in a newly developed resort hotel.
Naohiro Yamaguchi brings to the table an impressive breadth of experience in hotel management. In 2015 Naohiro assumed the position of culinary manager at a large resort facility on the west coast of the main island of Okinawa. After that, he served as a marketing manager, then as general manager for accommodations. In 2019 Naohiro was appointed manager of the General Manager’s Office, assuming general responsibility for segment operations. The position of General Manager of the Administration Division was later added to his existing duties.

In January 2025 Naohiro was appointed to his current position as General Manager of Haimurubushi.
