Questions about rooms, baggage, check-in and check-out

Q. Do you offer pick-up services at the Kohama ferry terminal?
A. Free shuttle services are available for hotel guests at the Kohama ferry terminal. The schedule of shuttle buses matches the arrival time of ferries; therefore no reservation is required.
Q. When is check-in time? If I arrive earlier, would the hotel hold my baggage till check-in time?
A. Check-in time is 15:00. Check-out time is 11:00. We can keep your baggage at the reception if guests arrive earlier than check-in time. Changing rooms are available. Guests are welcome to get changed and enjoy swimming at the swimming-pool or sea bathing at the beach.
Q. Can I pay by credit card?
A. We accept AMEX, DINERS, JCB, NICOS, MUFG, SAISON, UC, VISA, Mastercard, AEON CARDS as well as DEBIT CARDS, and China UnionPay.
Q. Can I send my luggage in advance?
A. You can address your baggage to the reception and the "period of stay MM/DD" should be clearly written.

If you are planning to home-deliver your baggage after check-out, sending it by "round trip courier" would be convenient. "Round trip courier" service can save you from the trouble of filing in form and paying at the reception when you check-out. Please contact the courier company for details.
Q. Can 5 people stay in the same room?
A. If you need extra bed in Standard or Superior we have cots available to fit up to 5 guests in one room.
Q. What is the size of your rooms?
A. The size of Standard, Superior, Ocean View Superior rooms, Ocean View Deluxe Room, or Ocean View Premier Room is 47sq.m. The size of Ocean View Bath Suite and Ocean View Suite is 60sq.m.
Q. Are all rooms with ocean-view?
A. Ocean View Suite, which is right in front of the ocean offers a spectacular ocean view. Ocean View Premier Room, Ocean View Superior room are not directly in front of the ocean, but you can still see the Lapis lazuli color ocean from these rooms. Superior, Standard face the garden, from which you cannot see the ocean.
Q. Is there any smoking rooms?
A. All rooms are non-smoking. However, rooms with terrace allow guests to smoke on the terrace. If you need an ashtray, feel free to get one at the reception.
Q. Are there any rental baby/toddler items available?
A. Strollers, gates (from 18 months to 60 months of age), diaper pails, step stools are available for free use (reservation required).
Rental cribs are available (JPY2,000 / day, reservation required)
Q. Is internet service available? Can my computer be connected to internet in the room I stay?
A. Free wireless LAN (Wi-fi) service is available in all guest rooms. Since the hotel connects with ADSL, access to video playback would be difficult. (Kohama island is not within the coverage of optical service)
Also, the weather may affect the quality of ADSL connection; the connection may be out of service due to unstable weather.
Configuration is required on your devices (computer, smartphone, tablet etc.) in order to access to internet. Free of charge computer service is available at the entrance lobby of the Center House. Wireless LAN service is also available. Please inform the reception if you need the password to connect to internet after registration.

Q. What do I need to book activities in advance?
A. Please book following activities at least till 7 pm in one day advance at the Activity counter : Snorkel tour, fishing tour, diving tour, SUP tour, YOGA and SPA
We do not accept any booking for cycle, motorcycle, cart and beach activities. We serve our guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
Q. Is there any rental service for snorkeling mask and fins?
A. Rental service for snorkeling mask or fins are NOT available. However, required tools for optional courses such as introductory diving or snorkeling are complimentary if you sign up for those activities.
Q. Is there a rental of float, arm float and sandbox set?
A. They are free rental. But the size and quantity are limited.
Q. Can children join the snorkeling activities?
A. Elementary school children or above are welcome to participate. Life jackets are available on boats. Younger children and infants are allow to ride together on boats. However, marine tools for younger children are not available.
Q. Is there any beaches nearby?
A. The beach is within the hotel area. However, with the expansive grounds, it takes about 15 min on foot to the beach. Shuttle buses are available during summer time from the center area of the hotel to the beach. Free shuttle bus departs every one hour.
Q. Will I be able to see fish or coral reefs within the swimming area?
A. The beach in the hotel area is a shoaling beach where you will not be able to see fish or coral reefs. We recommend you to sign up for snorkeling activity.
Q. What is marine passport?
A. A marine passport allows you to enjoy activities under the menu of beach activities and field activities for multiple times. Please check the details under the "Activities" page.
Q. Are there any tour to visit the other islands?
A. Yes, there are a lot of tours to going to Iriomote Island, Taketomi Island or Kuroshima Island. However we do not sell these tours.
Q. Can I buy baby products in the hotel?
A. You can find disposable diapers (2 pcs in one pack), baby wipes, swim diapers in our hotel shop. Available Sizes and colors vary due to stock condition. Baby food is not available.
Q. Any public bath?
A. View Spa (for guests only) is available. It is not a hot spring facility, but a bath with hot water.
Q. Any golf course nearby?
A. There is no golf course within our hotel area. However, a 18 holes golf course is available at the nearby hotel, Nirakanai country club. Please contact the country club directly for details and reservation. If you need pick up/drop off service, please contact the reception the day before. Pick up/drop off service is free of charge.
Q. Can I use your facility on a day-trip?
A. Yes, you can use lunch time of our restaurant, SPA, the hotel shop. However complementary bus from Kohama port to Haimurubushi is only for our guests staying with us. And we may close by the private party sometimes.
Q. Can I use a drone in the hotel?
A. We can not allow you to use the drone in the Hotel, except in the case a permission by us in advance.

About Kohama island and outer islands

Questions on Kohama island and Yaeyama climate

Q. When is the typhoon season?
A. Typhoon season slightly varies each year. In general, from June to October, once or twice typhoons affect Yaeyama area.
Q. When is the rainy season?
A. The rainy season usually starts in May around the golden week and it ends in the end of June. Sudden summer showers pass occasionally. It is normally not the case to have continuous rain; we could even have great weather sometimes.
Q. How do I access to Kohama island from Ishigaki airport?
A. You can access by ferry from the Ishigaki ferry port. It takes 25 minutes by taxi or 45 minutes by bus from the airport to the Ishigaki ferry port.
Q. Are there any hospital and convenient store on Kohama island?
A. There is no hospital, but a clinic (consultation time: 8:30–11:30, 13:30-16:30 on weekdays only) on Kohama island. There is no convenient store on the island, but a hotel shop in the hotel and a general store in town are in service.
Q. Do I need to make reservation in order to ride on the ferries which operate between Ishigaki island and Kohama island.
A. No reservation is required. However, please inform the reception about your departure time the day before check-out if you need drop off service from the hotel to Kohama terminal.
Q. Can I use mobile phone on Kohama island?
A. Mobile phone connections with NTTdocomo and au are good. However, with Softbank or PHS, connections could be bad in certain areas.
Q. When can I see the Southern Cross? Where can I see it?
A. From the end of December till the middle of June, the Southern Cross can be seen.
It can be viewed right on top of Kuroshima which faces the front of the beach terrace.
It is right above the horizon, therefore it is hard to been viewed on cloudy days.
＊Haimurubushi in Kanji (Chinese characters) is "南群星" meaning the group of stars "Southern cross constellation".
Q. How do we go around Kohama island?
A. We have rental bicycles, power assisted bicycles, motorbikes, motorbikes for 2 passengers available. [which can only be reserved on the day (advance reservation would not be accepted).]
It is also possible to arrange local sightseeing tours at the Activity counter. Please ask the Activity Counter for details.
